Gallery of contemporary Chinese art

Zhao Yong (b.1967)

All the works produced by Zhao Yong depict a series of awe-inspiring, scenic paintings. All the images show hut-like shelters amid trees that are surrounded by colossal mountains. There is a sense of harmony in his art works, which is re-enforced with the use of inert green hues. The tranquil nature of Zhao’s paintings is shown through the misty setting of the trees and mountains, providing it with a floating effect.

The mountains can be viewed spiritually as the centre of nature, and the trees as the messengers of serenity. A number of his paintings display a hut amongst the domineering natural setting. This can be seen as the artist embracing nature and humanity, which have a mutually re-enforcing and complementing relationship. Of course, the hut is placed submissively in the middle of a dominant natural setting, expressing nature overriding the destructive disposition of urban humanity.

Zhao is an established contemporary Chinese artist and is a member of the China Artist Association.  Hailing from China Art Academy, in Xi’an, Zhao’s works have been inserted as the Chinese permanent collection in 1998. His works have been appreciated on numerous occasions, including at the Barnsley Diversity Festival in the UK, which took place in 2008.
